Bluetooth SIG Profiles
Standard BLE profile support for vendor-neutral wearable integration.
Where a wearable implements a Bluetooth SIG standard profile, AnyBio integrates it without per-vendor work. This is the cleanest integration path: any device that complies with the standard works the same way.
Heart Rate profile
The Bluetooth SIG Heart Rate profile is supported end-to-end. Any chest strap, wristband, or watch that exposes the standard Heart Rate Service (UUID 0x180D) and Heart Rate Measurement characteristic (UUID 0x2A37) will:
- Be discoverable through the BioSDK scan flow.
- Connect through the standard scan-and-connect path described in Scanning & Connecting.
- Stream heart rate to the platform as a
HRbiosignal (1 Hz, validated 20-300 bpm). - Persist as observations queryable via the biosignal lookup API.
- Export to FHIR with LOINC code
8867-4.
You don't need to know whether the underlying device is a Polar strap, a Wahoo monitor, a Garmin watch, or any other compliant peripheral - the integration is the same.
Auto-connect
For applications that want to connect to nearby standard heart rate peripherals automatically:
BioBLEManager.shared.enableAutoConnectHRM(true, maxConnections: 3)This scans for devices advertising the Heart Rate Service and connects to up to maxConnections of them. Useful in multi-device sessions where a primary biosignal device (e.g., a ring or chest patch) is paired with one or more standard heart rate peripherals to round out signal coverage.
Other profiles
Additional Bluetooth SIG profiles are added as customer demand justifies the work. If your project depends on a specific standard profile, contact us - the platform's standards path is intentionally kept up to date.
Why standards matter
Standardized profiles let your application portfolio scale across hardware without per-device integration cost. A clinic deploying AnyBio for a remote-monitoring program can let patients use whichever compatible heart rate peripheral they already own. A consumer app can target "any Bluetooth SIG heart rate device" without negotiating a partnership for every wearable on the market.
For waveform-class signals (ECG, PPG raw streams), no public Bluetooth SIG standard exists at the level of fidelity AnyBio operates on, so vendor-specific integrations remain the path for those biosignals. See Supported Devices for the categories we cover today.
